Instead of Fireflying tonight, the current plan is to meet at Booker Creek at 6 and run around the Lake. Running wet in the dark does not seem like fun.
Keep tuned for further updates!

We will run a Firefly tonight on Pumpkin from the Municiple lot at 7. Headlamps recommended!
PS By popular request, I have adjusted the setting on the email list. In theory, replying now won’t automatically go to the whole group, but you should have a choice. I don’t know how this will work in practice! Bear with me, as I try to figure out good ways to deal with the email overload.
For tonight, let’s meet next to the rose garden at the Community Center (120 S. Estes) at 6:30.
There is a parking lot there, but it fills up. If full, you can park at the post office across Estes. Better yet, park at Caffe Driade (1215-A E Franklin), where we will go after for a (overpriced) beer. There is a path down from Driade to the Bolin Creek Trail and it is a short walk (go left) to the community center.
There are two routes tonight (4.5 and 7 – see links below for maps). I have printed turn-by-turn directions, but I do not have a good track record when it comes to bringing these sorts of things with me. If 4.5 sounds daunting (or you would rather walk), I recommend going up Bolin Creek to MLK and then taking this back to Caffee Driade (there is a path up from the greenway). This would about about 2.5 miles.
Caffe Driade (http://www.caffedriade.com/index.cfm?view=13), for the uninitiated, is an overpriced, artsy coffee shop this has a great atmosphere. It’s open til 11 and they have great outdoor seating. For the thirsty runner tonight (going direct to the Caffe), skip turning off Franklin onto Roosevelt. Just stay on Franklin and grab us a table (or two) when you get there.
This Saturday, we will run the Esperanza 5K for Safe Passage in Southern Village.
Safe Passage provides approximately 550 children with education, social services, and the chance to move beyond the poverty their families have faced for generations. Safe Passage is a refuge for children contending with situations marked by extreme poverty, neglect and abuse. These children are defeating all odds by leaving the Guatemala City garbage dump where they have lived their entire lives, and coming every day to the program, where they learn about hygiene, receive a healthy meal, and work on achieving their academic dreams. The children in Safe Passage’s care remind us that there is much to hope for. For Chapel Hill specific questions, please contact ncfriends@safepassage.org
For more info, visit: safepassage.org/5K.
For those of us who want to do more than 3 miles, we will meet earlier (7 or 7:30 and run a route around Southern Village). Sign up here!
