New Year Running, Spring Mentoring & More   Leave a comment

Happy Blazing New Year! I hope my actions speak louder than words in expressing how much I appreciate having the Soles in my life. Enough mush, eh?

Spring Mentoring: Looks like Yoda will be some sort of coach for the FF 4 miler program starting at the end of the month. It’s been a while since the Soles did some mentoring, so I would like to encourage everyone to consider doing it again. I am thinking that we can do a Tuesday night run together after the program around 7. Mentoring details are in the email from Nat forwarded below. I know we will be training for the Mountains to Sea run in late April, but I think we will just need to maintain ourselves post Uwharie with some nice Sunday AM trail runs. Soles make for good mentors in my book and doing it together makes it more fun.

Uwharie is a month away! Who is excited? Our training plan calls for a revisit to Eno this weekend (and Jordan Lake next).

Sunday: Back to the Mill unless there is a mutiny!

May a blazing new year be with you!

Christmas Week Running   Leave a comment

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas! Thank you, Endurtle, for hosting all the crazy Christmas Soles on Saturday night.

Who’s running this week? There are lots of traveling Soles (me included).

Who’s in for a Thursday evening campus run?

On Saturday at 8AM, Trailheads are having their annual New Year’s long run from Seawell School parking lot.

Anyone interested?

I will be getting to RDU at 9am Saturday, so will be too late for the Seawell run. Anyone up for a later run on Saturday? Anthone want to come get me at the airport? 🙂

See you all next weekend! Have a great Christmas week!

Holiday Running   Leave a comment

What a great weekend for running! Our continuing exploration of trails in the area is opening up some nice short road trips for some amazing trail runs. New Hope Overlook’s lake views at Jordan Lake will be bringing us back often. Nana has plotted out a quicker route from Chapel Hill, so a shorter drive plus trailgating will make future trips much more acessible to the busy Sole!

Anyone up for hill repeats this Wednesday?

Holiday festivities this Saturday night!!! Be at Kelly’s at 6. Bring food to share, a donation for the food pantry (IFC) and something lying around the house for the ‘re-gift rodeo’!

Saturday morning, we are heading to Unstead, meeting @ Reedy Creek section: http://www.ncparks.gov/Visit/parks/wium/pics/maptowdir.pdf You get off the exit and take a left and drive to the parking lot. google map: https://maps.google.com/?q=35.8905,-78.7502. Google says its 24 minutes from my house and 30 from Dogwood Acres. Carpool/Caravan options will be sorted out later this week.

There seems to be a desire to move Sunday runs a bit earlier than 9 [except for some vocal grumbling yesterday 🙂 ]. Let’s plan to meet at 8:15. This week, let’s head beck to Carolina North. Or Johnston Mill?

Since we all enjoyed the Eastwood Lake Loop lest week, let’s run it again this Tuesday! See you at Home Team at 6:15.

New Hope for Running This Week!   Leave a comment

What a gorgeous weekend to kick off our Uwharrie season! We logged some nice trails miles and no-one seems the worse for wear.

Saturday, we are heading to New Hope Overlook (directions below). There is also a Little River Course Preview hosted by the Trailheads. Check their website for more details.

Several Soles suggested the Eastwood Lake Loop for this Tuesday, so let’s do it! I am a big fan of mutinies. See you at Home Team at 6:15.
