Uwharrie Starts today!   Leave a comment

Congrats again to Roger and all our Rocky Soles! What a beautiful weekend to be out on the trials.

Run Faster Now: Nana passed along a great article about why we should train more on trails: "Prepping for a 10-K or a marathon? Take your training to the trails" @ http://fitbie.msn.com/get-fitter/run-faster-now. "Most important, because you won’t feel fast relative to the pace you normally run on pavement, you’ll want to ignore your watch and heart rate monitor and manage your runs instead according to duration and fatigue—both of which will be greater than what you’re used to."

With just eight weekends between now and Uwharrie, it’s time to kick our training up a notch (especially for the nutty 20 milers). So a few us put our noggins together to offer up a suggested training schedule (attached). As always, it’s only a suggestion, but it’s a good one. 🙂 I am going to use the plan to organize Soles runs, but the schedule won’t work for everyone. Feel free to mutiny! The 20 milers are planning to run with the 8milers, but just stay to double the distance on Saturday mornings.
